DelCor’s Sixth Annual Community Food Drive Collects over Seven Tons of Food

For Immediate Release

Silver Spring, Maryland – April 29th, 2008 – DelCor, an association and nonprofit oriented technology management consulting firm, has completed its sixth annual client and vendor food drive to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB). This year’s event was an enormous success with 29 associations, nonprofits, and technology vendors participating. Their contributions, along with those of DelCor’s staff, yielded over 14,400 pounds of food, shattering DelCor’s goal to collect 8,000 pounds and more than doubling what was collected in 2007. The food collected as well as donations received will allow the CAFB to provide over 15,000 meals to needy people in the District, Suburban Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

The Capital Area Food Bank is the largest non-governmental, nonprofit food distribution and hunger education resource in the Washington Metropolitan Area. In a December 2003 Washingtonian magazine article, entitled “Giving Where It Counts,” CAFB was named as one of the 20 most worthwhile local charities to support.

DelCor is proud to recognize the contributions of TMA Resources, which collected over 5,000 pounds of food from its generous staff, and Avectra, which collected over 3,000 pounds of food. Their generous contributions should serve as a model for corporate social responsibility and we applaud them.

“It was amazing to see the results of the efforts of the participating organizations – numerous vanloads of quality food products to benefit disadvantaged people in the DC metro area. If all local associations and their vendors joined together or held drives of their own, once a year, we could have a tremendous impact on local hunger.” (Loretta M. DeLuca, CEO of DelCor)
