For Immediate Release
Silver Spring, Maryland – May 14th, 2009 – DelCor, an association and nonprofit oriented technology management consulting firm, has completed its seventh annual client and vendor food drive to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB). This year’s event was a great success with 23 associations, nonprofits, and technology vendors participating. Their contributions, along with those of DelCor’s staff, yielded 16,114 pounds of food, exceeding our goal to collect eight tons and over one ton more food than was collected in 2008. The food collected, as well as the donations received, will allow the CAFB to provide thousands of meals to needy people in the District, Suburban Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
The Capital Area Food Bank is the largest non-governmental, nonprofit food distribution and hunger education resource in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Washingtonian Magazine has called the Capital Area Food Bank “one of the 20 most worthwhile local charities to support.”
“It is always amazing to see the results of the efforts of the participating organizations – numerous vanloads of quality food products to benefit disadvantaged people in the DC metro area. It really speaks to the giving nature of our community that during this economic downturn we not only collected more than we did last year, but we were also able to reach our goal of eight tons. I would be remiss for not giving special thanks to TMA Resources and Avectra. Their generosity accounted for over half of the overall weight of food collected. They both serve as great examples of corporate-social responsibility in our community.”
