I am still reeling from the results of our 8th Annual .org Food Drive to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank. Honestly, I didn't think we would make this year's drive goal, which was 25,000 pounds. This goal was based boldly on DelCor's 25th anniversary, which we recently celebrated. So, we took a huge leap from last year's goal of 16,000 pounds, and six of us spent one day collecting food and checks from more than 30 participants in the metro area. By the end, we collected almost 30,000 pounds of food, and the Food Bank said it couldn't have come at a better time - as evidenced by their nearly empty shelves. What a great feeling! I have to give a big shout out to all of our clients and friends who went all out this year to help the needy people in our neighborhoods. For a list of participating organizations,

DelCor also had the pleasure of participating in
unassociated, an unconference sponsored by SocialFish and hosted at the National Association of REALTORS®, the goal of which was to bring together association professionals from all industries with the one common interest of collaborating on new ideas for communicating with members. There were several interesting tidbits that came from the meeting, some of which you can read about below. DelCor sponsored the
afterparty at Johnny's Half Shell with a good turnout.
Next month, I will have the honor of attending ASAE's Fellows Retreat in Miami. The first day will be dedicated to volunteering at Camillus House, a South Florida-based non-profit organization that provides humanitarian services - including food, shelter, housing, rehabilitative treatment, and health care - to men, women, and children who are poor and homeless. I will be preparing and serving meals while some of my counterparts will be painting - I think everyone will very much appreciate me not getting my hands on a can of paint.
